After some discussion with the owner we diagnosed that the motor had burnt out and had come to the end of its life. We replaced the motor inside their Kiwivac for about 1/3 of the price of a new power unit.

Some central vacuum motors don’t last that long. The shorter life motors have faster spinning motors (which do more revolutions per minute). Where possible we use slower spinning, more reliable, longer lasting motors.
