Kiwivac Can Service and Repair All Brands Of Central Vacuum Systems

Central Vacuums for Existing Homes

In 99% of existing homes, we can install a Central Vacuum System. Depending on where you have the most space – ceiling or under your home – we will find a way to install a vacuum system for you.

Ceiling

In order to keep the pipework hidden, we bring it down inside a cupboard, pantry or wardrobe. The pipe is placed through the wall, and the inlet is placed on the opposite wall, into the hallway, bedroom, and living room.

The pipes are connected to the pipes in your ceiling, and run to where the power unit will be placed.

Usually, this is in the garage, but if your garage is not attached to your home, it can be hung in a cupboard as long as there is enough ventilation.

Under House

This pipework is hidden inside a cupboard, pantry, or wardrobe, so you won’t see it.

On the other side of the wall, from the hallway, the living room, and the bedroom, an inlet is placed.

Next, the pipes are connected to the pipes under the floor, which lead to the power unit.

Usually, this is in the garage, but if your garage is not attached to your home, it can be hung in a cupboard as long as there is enough ventilation. Alternatively, the power unit can be installed under your home, in the basement.

Planning your system is the first step.

The method we follow will depend on where you have the most space for installation.

Then we design a solution that is:

  1. User-friendly and adaptable to the layout of your home
  2. Efficient, so you get maximum performance for the size of your home
  3. Perfectly suited to your needs. So that we can tailor a solution to your preferences, we ask questions like:

    a) Would you prefer bagged or bagless?
    b) What’s your ideal hose length?
    C) What type of accessories do you want?
    d) How about a retractable ‘hide-a-hose’?
    e) Do you require a Vacpan in your kitchen?

Experienced installers will ensure your Central Vacuum Cleaner complies with building codes.

This can normally be completed and up and running in one day. We can install the whole system whenever it is convenient for the client. (No tradesmen are required to be there when we do an existing home).

Once the system is installed we will show you how to use it, including how to change the bags or empty the bin.

Designing Your Central Vacuum System

Accessories & Colours

Kiwivac offers a variety of accessories, including mops! You can polish timber floors, clean blinds, clean bi-fold door and ranchslider tracks and remove loose fur from your pet with our PetVac system.

Unlike other central vacuums, ours are also available in white! With white hoses and accessories, your vacuum will not only perform better, but also look better!

Central Vacuum Power Unit

These NZ made units are situated in the garage, basement or a cupboard, so long as there is adequate ventilation.

Our air watts range from 461am – 868aw.

Inlets

Inlets are located, at the same height as your power points, in convenient places throughout your home to make vacuuming easy with a 9 metre switch hose.

As a general guideline, we recommend a 9-metre hose or shorter, unless it is absolutely necessary to go longer due to the construction of your home.

Longer hoses are less efficient and more difficult to manoeuvre. You can choose from a range of colours.

Vacpan

This is placed in the kick-board of your kitchen, usually located under a set of drawers. This is piped in at the same time as the rest of the inlets.

In some situations a vacpan can be added to existing systems.

They can also be put into the laundry or any other room that has hard flooring, where you want to sweep up the small messes.

Garage Inlet

We can install an inlet in your garage so you can vacuum your car, boat, and garage.

This can either be an inlet on the wall (like the rest of the house) or a utility inlet on the pipework coming out of the wall and going into the power unit.

Your wall inlet is piped at the same stage as your pipe out.
